Usually, Testosterone tests only list the specific number if the results are within the reference ranges. This test gives a specific number even if the number is above or below the reference range.
Testosterone concentrations in adult females and children (both male and female) are lower than adult males and requires a more sensitive and specific analysis to accurately determine testosterone levels.
This test is also used for men that have a history of low or high testosterone levels, which is not counted if the levels are out of the standard reference ranges.
Liquid Chromatography/Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS/MS)
Helpful in assessing testicular function in male and managing hirsutism, virilization in females.
Note: Result turn around times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. Our reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.
